REVIEW

"A charming tale for romance lovers and cat lovers alike."

Successful, driven attorney Mckenna Wright is at the top of her game, involved in a high profile celebrity case that could further her career, when a car accident gives her amnesia. Not only does she forget all about her personal history, but she loses all knowledge of the law -- including her current case. As if that weren't bad enough, she can also now hear her cat, Nefertiti (Titi), talk to her.

Let go from the firm and forced to start life over, Mckenna sells her beautiful house and moves into a trailer, replaces her totaled BMW with a compact car and struggles to find even a minimum wage job. Bits and pieces of memories return with the help of her friends, Jane and Nell, and some unexpected support from a former rival, Tom Markham. The cowboy-turned-county attorney should be delighted that his nemesis has been taken down a few pegs, but Tom finds himself attracted to this softer, more vulnerable Mckenna.

Meanwhile, Titi offers advice and observations from a cat's all-knowing perspective as she and her mistress become accustomed to their new circumstances. But when Mckenna's memories return, will she still be happy with the simple life or will she once again be the workaholic attorney? Who is the real Mckenna?

I don't care for amnesia plots, so I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this story. I liked seeing Mckenna's struggle to live a life most of us are all too familiar with, and Tom is sexy and sweet. But most of all, I enjoyed Titi's delightful commentary. Ms. Carmichael's previous books have featured dogs, but she proves here that she has great insight into the feline mind as well -- at least as much as a mere human can! I recommend this charming tale to romance lovers and cat lovers alike.
