"Funny & suspenseful start to Figure Skating mystery series."
Skating researcher for 24/7 television, Bex Levy has a job
many people would like to kill her for, not because it is
so desirable, but because skating researchers are the ones
responsible for the blurbs of information that get spoken
before, after and during skating routines by the
announcers. Bex has discovered that the next young figure
skating legend's father isn't allowing him to go to the
national competition. As the boy is on the Olympic track,
it is Bex's responsibility to find out why he isn't being
allowed to compete and perhaps use a little media pressure
to encourage his dad to let him. Instead of merely becoming
embroiled in a little "stage-parent" catfight, Bex finds
herself delving deeper into a world of deception and
death. Fans of figure skating will laugh out loud at the
descriptions of the skaters, attitudes, costumes and
stunts. Non-fans will revel in the finely crafted mystery.
Bex Levy is a great protagonist who is prone to talking to
herself, putting her foot in her mouth, and slashing at
people with blades of sarcasm. Alone, the humor in ON THIN
ICE makes it a good book; combined with the interesting
characters and suspense, it is a great book.

SummaryBex Levy has seen her share of skating stars. But thirteen-
year-old Jeremy Hunt may be the best of the best, with his
winning smile, flawless technique, and more talent than
most skaters twice his age. So, when his strangely
protective father refuses to allow him to go to Nationals,
and the two vanish, Bex knows there's a better story off
the ice than on.
