"Second story in Gentleman Rogues trilogy is charming."
Exiled since birth, Princess Caroline plans to return to
the small kingdom of Boratania. Preparing for the event,
Caroline has scoured Europe for Boratania's looted
historical treasures. She manipulates the owners into
either donating the lost objects, or if they are unwilling,
she steals them. Caroline's passion and drastic actions
might be one reason that the English Crown has uncovered an
assassination plot against her. Overruling her objections,
they assign a bodyguard. Orphaned and abandoned at a young age in a workhouse, Drew
Chase survives the perilous journey to adulthood through
his courage to endure and loyal friends. Drew and two other
boys struggled to rise above their station by working hard
and putting their lives on the line for Queen and country.
For his valor, Queen Victoria bestows an earldom on him.
Known for his dedication and perseverance, Drew's latest
assignment is uncovering the plot on Princess Caroline. For
the first time, duty and obligation change to hardship as
he falls deeply in love with Caroline. The assassination attempts increase as the coronation grows
near. Time is running out, Drew must discover the culprit,
and then have the courage to walk away from Caroline. This second story continues the Gentleman Rogues trilogy
with a charming tale. Caroline's antics bedevil Drew and
delight readers. An enjoyable read.
