"Money Is The Root Of All Evil"
Sally Cox feels lucky to have gotten a job as a CNA at the
local nursing home. She loves the patients, she's made a
few friends with her coworkers but unfortunately the money
is not great and she's already so in debt she can't see a
way out. She comes home each night to more and more
collector calls on the answering machine. It is so easy
to blame her ex-husband Sam for everything wrong in her
life since he is the one who divorced her to marry a
younger woman. One of her favorite patients is poor Mrs. Rigsby who often
seems very confused. The state is paying for Mrs.
Rigsby's care but her son and grandson are convinced that
she has hidden money away somewhere and they are
determined to get their hands on it. Should Sally even
believe Mrs. Rigsby when she tells her and her coworker
about a lot of money and just where it is hidden? This book takes on a very strange twist when Karen
convinces Sally that they should go dig up the money and
make both their lives better. They aren't the only ones
who think the money could change their lives. Remember
there is Mrs. Rigsby's charming grandson who really
doesn't like to work and her poor son whose social
security check leaves him eating ketchup sandwiches long
before the month is over. Who all has Mrs. Rigsby told
about the money and how many people will die before the
money is rightfully turned over to the authorities? I became a fan of Mrs. Herman's work after reading her
Baxter series last year. She does an excellent job of
mixing a great deal of suspense in her with inspirational
stories which leaves this particular reader sitting on the
edge of her seat waiting to see who the real bad guy is.
I believe you'll love how Kathy Herman does a great job of
showing us how people will do anything for money since
most of us are convinced it is the answer to all our
problems. Be sure to watch out next year for a new series starting
by Kathy Herman that will be a spin off from her Baxter
series. The first book in the series is entitled A SHRED
OF EVIDENCE. Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth
and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and
steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven,
where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where
thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your
treasure is, there will your heart be also.
