REVIEW

"First in new series! -- ambitious and exciting"

First in an exciting new series!

Valerie Falkyr has a fairly normal life. Besides the gaping hold in her memory -- she can't remember anything that happened before she work up in the hospital in a dishy doctor's care -- she'd be perfectly content. She has a fun-loving roomate and now she's dating the dishy doctor... but when a popular underground production company rolls into town her hidden past will be disturbed.

Beset by monsters, with no way to tell who's good and who's bad, Valerie blunders into dark truths that lie buried in her own mind. Along the way she meets some very interesting people... many of whom are male, and many who appear to know better than she does who exactly she is!

THE VALKYRIE is an exciting, ambitious novel by new author Mandy M. Roth, an author some have likened to popular vampire/faerie author Laurell K. Hamilton. (Probably because of her heroine's never-ending bevy of men) The story itself is intriguing, with it's many mysteries, not the least of which is the question of who -- or what -- Valerie really is. Being the first in the series, not all questions are answered before the climactic finale, but in the end enough is revealed to keep the reader well and truly hooked. THe characterization is a bit light, from the mysterious heroine to the many characters who appear in quick succession at the end, and the story does start slowly, but once Roth hits her stride the story flows wonderfully. If you're tired of the same old human/vamp romance, or are a fan of Hamilton's many men/one heroine technique, you owe it to yourself to check out this amazing story.

VAMPYRE PRODUCTIONS: Book One

Summary

What would you do if one of Hollywood's leading heart-throbs only had eyes for you? That's the question that Valerie Falkyr is facing. After a chance meeting and a minor misunderstanding, she suddenly finds herself the object of one of film's darkest hunks. In the beginning it's overwhelming to have the attentions of someone so famous directed at her, but soon she sees a darker side of Guytano--a side that fans don't get to see.

Guytano's old enemies resurface and Valerie finds herself caught in their dark, bloodthirsty world and can't find her way out. The deeper Guytano pulls her into his reality, the more ghosts from Valerie's own past resurface.
