REVIEW

"Second installment of the Goddess Summoning series is uniquely outstanding."

Carolina, Lina to her friends, has a problem. She owns a trendy bakery in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and has just found out her accountant made a mistake, and she owes the IRS more money than she can come up with. Enter the goddess Demeter, who offers to solve Lina's problem if she'll consent to impersonate her daughter, Persephone, on a trip to the Underworld, ruled by Hades.

Between a rock and a hard place, Lina reluctantly agrees, but when she gets to the Underworld, Hades isn't the boring, brooding hermit Demeter portrayed him as. Instead, he's exciting, handsome and sexier than anyone she's ever met. She's promised Demeter she won't reveal the secret of her identity to anyone and that presents a problem when Lina falls for the powerful god.

This second installment in Ms. Cast's Goddess Summoning series is as unique and wonderful as the first one, GODDESS OF THE SEA. The characters are fresh, the setting unexpected and when Hades raised his voice, I could feel it all the way to my shoes. A great book to take to the beach or to relax with at home on a lazy summer day, GODDESS OF SPRING is one you won't want to miss. Ms. Cast is definitely on my "must read" list of authors.

Summary

Lina's trendy bakery in Tulsa is proving to be less than lucrative, and she must come up with a plan. When she stumbles upon an Italian Goddess cookbook, Lina can't help but think she's found the answer to her problem even if it means invoking a goddess to save her business.

Soon enough, Lina finds herself face-to-face with Demeter, who has a plan of her own. She proposes that Lina exchange souls with Persephone, the Goddess of Spring, who will breathe new life into the bakery. In return, Lina must set order to the Underworld.

Before all this, Lina's problems mostly involved sourdough and second dates. Now that she embodies the enchanting Persephone, Lina has weightier things on her mind, like the formidable task of bringing Spring to a world of spirits. But when the handsome, brooding Hades kindles a spark in her heart, Lina wonders if this Lord of the Underworld might be the man of her dreams.
