REVIEW

"Humorous story of making good on a mistake."

Faith is a good sister. As is her duty, she hurries to Skye's aid whenever she gets into scrapes any sensible person might avoid. Faith is in Florence, Italy, where she's been researching the area for a travel article. Her sister calls, blurting out between sobs that her husband has left her, taken the money, and she might have to sell the bar, a business that Faith financed and lowered her credit rating over. Faith insists her sister must grow up and handle it, and she is not returning home, no matter how much begging Skye does. But when her old hometown flame calls and tells Faith that her sister is pregnant and she's letting her down, Faith can't say no. She hates going back to the small Minnesota town she fled years before.

Now Faith is working side-by-side with Flynn, a secret partner in the bar since Skye asked him to bail her out of financial problems when she didn't have the nerve to ask Faith for more money. Flynn is the man Faith loved and the man she ran away from the day he asked her to marry him. Faith finds herself trying to resolve one fiasco after another that her sister gets involved in while trying to come to terms with the fact that the town she once said she'd never return to isn't that bad after all. More importantly, she still has feelings for Flynn, and she's made some big mistakes, too.

Written in first-person, MY FAVORITE MISTAKE is an enjoyable story of sisters finding out they have more in common than they thought and that small towns can be warm and inviting places. Ms. Kendrick entertains readers with this humorous story that proves it's never too late to make good on a mistake.

FIRST LOVE ISN'T FOREVER... Exhibit A: Faith's little sister, Skye, who muddled through her first divorce at the tender age of twenty-one. Faith has always provided damage control when Skye's love life gets too reminiscent of a daytime drama. But now that Faith has finally found the job, if not the man, of her dreams -- as a culinary writer, currently living la dolce vita in Italy -- she can't just jet back to small-town Minnesota to help her suddenly pregnant little sister heal her broken heart and anemic bank account. BUT NEVER SAY NEVER! Faith has been putting off this homecoming for years, ever since her dad left her family in the lurch, her mother left her in charge of Skye, and a sub-zero case of cold feet led her to call off the engagement to her high school sweetheart, Flynn. But a return to the amber fields of grain might just be what Faith needs to gain some perspective on her past -- and figure out her future. It's been way too long since her last love affair...memories of Flynn still get in the way of every man she meets. But if she and Flynn are really meant to be, why does the path to happily-ever-after have so many potholes?
