Jessica Haven was desperate to get to Devil's Gorge. Not only was the medical journalist wanting to expose a certain doctor for the quack he was but she had a personal interest in it as well. The one man she wanted to guide her there refused. So, using her influence as the Mayor's daughter the man had no choice to but to obey his superiors.

Canadian Mountie, Sergeant Major,Travis Reid was looking forward to his personal time off,that was until he was forced to take Jessica. He remembered Jessica from her teen years and assumed that she was the same spoiled rich girl that she had always been. He also needed this time to himself to deliver horses he had sold and also come to terms with the one year anniversary of his wife's death.

On the journey the two were at odds both having misconceptions of each other and never wanting to give an inch. However, as their days wore on Travis began to realize that Jessica had changed. She no longer resembled the girl who had everything given to her,but, in her place was a caring, generous woman. When Jessica revealed her past and the real reason she was going to Devil's Gorge, Travis wanted to help her accomplish her mission.

Their trip was not one of ease with several obstacles to overcome, not to mention, the emotional wounds Jessica had to open again to face this doctor. Travis was also struggling with his wife's memory and trying to heal his hurts as well. Finally, these two find the peace and happiness that they are long overdue.

Our beloved Mounted Police are back for yet another one of a kind story. The heroine is very realistic and nothing about her is stereotypical. THE PROPOSTION will bring out all your heartfelt emotions, including a laugh or two. Kate Bridges continues to write books that belong on your keeper shelf.
