REVIEW

"The second in the 2176: Five Woman. One Goal: Freedom series"

This, the second in the 2176 series of five books about five incredible women, does do just that. It tells the story of Day Daniels, an incredible Canadian Mountie who wants to be the best Mountie she can be. First of all she and her partner are investigating a faction of Canadians who want the borders of Canada reopened and the quarantine lifted since they've been outbreak free for years. Then her partner is murdered and Dr. Lian Firebird finds remnants of a new strain of smallpox on his hat.

Now Lian commissions the RCMP to partner Day with him so they can get to the bottom of this to not only find out who murdered Luc Robichaux but to figure out who is behind this new strain of smallpox and what they are planning to do with it. Day is against partnering with Lian but she reluctantly goes along with it. The only problem is Lian and Day butt heads every time they are together. There's also an attraction there that they are both fighting knowing they can't do anything about it.

Can Day and Lian figure out what's going on before it's too late for Canada and for the rest of the world? Can they figure out exactly who the Voice of Freedom is and what Banzai McGuire has to do with it?

This story fascinated me from beginning to end. Strong heroines intrigue me especially when there is an equally strong hero to match. Neither Day nor Lian give in to each other but they each realize both are strong in their own way. As much as I enjoyed Kathleen Nance's contribution to this wonderful series, I'm eagerly awaiting the rest of this kick-butt series!
