"Another winning entry in the Bridgerton saga."
Francesca Bridgerton Stirling was a very lucky woman.
Raised in a loving family, Francesca's only worries were
being overshadowed by her boisterous clan. She married and
loved a good and decent man. Then the unthinkable happened
when John Stirling, young and healthy, died in his sleep.
Devastated, Francesca turns to her best friend for solace,
Michael Stirling, John's cousin and now the new earl.
Looking for comfort from Michael, Francesca cannot
understand why he avoids her. Michael Stirling, a popular and successful rake, fell in
love with Francesca the moment he laid eyes on her.
Unfortunately, she was married to his cousin. Hiding his
affection, Michael teased and flirted with her. No one ever
knew he coveted his cousin's wife. It is ironic that a man,
who has women chasing him, falls in love with the
unobtainable. At John's death, Michael lashes out in pain
at the very woman he loves. He is terrified when she tries
to substitute him for John. Michael flees to India, unable
to face Francesca. Four years later, Michael returns home ready to assume the
earldom. His arrival coincides with Francesca's desire to
remarry. Immediately, Francesca and Michael feel the
constant tension between them. However, both are conflicted
with guilt over betraying John's memory. Michael resolves
his feelings as he realizes John would have blessed their
union. Determined to win Francesca, Michael woos her.
Appalled at her salacious thoughts and actions, Francesca
revels in the sexual awareness between them. In order to
find happiness, Francesca must let the past go and embrace
the future. Ms Quinn adds another little gem in her Bridgerton saga.
The tale is filled with her delightful humor and poignant
moments. And readers have the added thrill of Michael and
Francesca's spicy and heated encounters.
