"Time travel romance with a fresh twist!"
Growing up, Kris Baldwin would listen to stories told by
her grandmother,a Comanche medicine woman. Around her neck
she wore a stone that her Grandmother said held a special
gift, one that would one day be discovered. But, in the
meantime Kris continued to be at peace with both
her Comanche and white heritage. After receiving a, much sought after, teaching position
Kris goes to Barton Springs to take a swim. Little did she
know that this one act would change her world forever.
While in the water she finds a stone like the one around
her neck and when she looks up she sees an Indian warrior
beckoning to her. Trying to get out of the springs, she
finds that she is unable to and almost drowns, if not for
the Indian. When she comes to, she finds herself back in time, one
hundred and fifty years ,to be exact. She thinks she is
dreaming and has a very difficult time grasping her
situation. However, the warrior, Black Eagle, knows
differently. He has been told by the Great Spirit that she
has power to help his people and she must be kept safe, at
all costs. Many in his village are skeptical of Kris's power,
including Kris. But, Black Eagle defends the claim. As time
passes in the village, Kris becomes to know and love some
of the People. She sees their plight in a different light.
Reading it in history books and experiencing it first hand
are two different things. The fact remains she does know
what happens to the Indians and does try to tell them what
will happen doesn't help their pride. They want
to stay and fight for what is theirs. While history is unfolding to Kris she also finds that she
is in love with Black Eagle as he is with her. Together
they bridge a century with their love and the power of the
stones. Kris also finds the true meaning of her reason
for being there and knows if she can get back to present
day she will use her gifts for the good of her mother's
People. But, danger lurks in the backround for both of them
and they must fight the demons for their love.
But, will their love be enough to conquer the evil and what
if the space of time tears them apart? Rich with historical figures and period detail, TIME'S
CAPTIVE engrosses readers into a very unique and well
thought out story. I am amazed how this one of a kind story
captured me from the start.. She offers readers a
realistic protrayal of the Indians while bringing forth a
beautiful romance.Nothing is predictable and newcomer, Kate
Lyon, bursts on the scene with this book. I look forward to
reading more from this talented author.
