"Meltdown, Exposed, Pure Ginger"
BAD BOYS NEXT EXIT is the latest Brava anthology featuring
those Bad Boys mom used to warn us about. In Shannon
McKenna's Meltdown, Jane Duvall is very good at her
job, she is a headhunter where she puts her acting skills
to good use. When asked to look for a hotel manager, she
looks no further than the Crowne Group. Upon arriving at
the hotel, she ends up being escorted around the hotel by
one of the owners Michael MacNamara and the attraction was
immediate. Will this attraction be a one time thing or
will it be the love of a lifetime? MELTDOWN is
appropriately named by Shannon McKenna. The reader will
meltdown when she meets Michael. THis story has the dark
sensuality that I have come to expect from Ms. McKenna. It
also made me even more of a fan of Shannon McKenna then I
was before. Austin Morgan is on his way home to Virginia for the
reading of his father's will in Exposed, when he
meets Delilah Hudson. Besides both being photographers
they find out they have more in common as they give into
their attraction while on a train stuck that gets delayed
by a snowstorm. This story by Donna Kauffman is the most
romantic of the three. It explores the popular fantasy
about two people passing in the night and shows that love
can happen in an instant. I thought this story was the
most romantic of the three novellas in BAD BOYS NEXT EXIT.
Delilah and Austin are two likeable characters and will
make you want to make your next vacation trip on a train. In Pure Ginger by E.C. Sheedy, Ginger is tired of
falling for the wrong man, after finding out her latest
boyfriend was a married man with kids, she decides to swear
off men for two years. That plan is threatened when she
meets Cal Beaumann, who wants her to create some PR for the
opening of his new theater. When Cal first sees Ginger,
she is dressed up like a nun and he thinks there is no way
she can do a campaign for Cinema Neo. But he can't get her
out of his head and Cal keeps wondering what Ginger looks
like without all those clothes on. This story was the first thing I have read by E.C. Sheedy
but it definitely will not be the last. I thought it was
the funniest out of the three novellas. I found myself
laughing at the same time as reaching for something cold to
drink. BAD BOYS NEXT EXIT, offers something for everyone. From the
hot and erotic, to the romantic to the romantic comedy. I
know you will love this latest installment of the BAD BOYS
anthology. Barb Hicks
