"Compelling Temporary Tale"
Callie Burke, art conservationist, has just lost her job
at one of the local art museums when she is approached by
Jack Warner. He wants to hire her to restore a famous
family painting in his possession. Even though she needs
the job, Callie is intimidated by the wealthy and handsome
man and is reluctant to take the assignment but out of
necessity, she reluctantly agrees. Callie has known
deprivation and unhappiness most of her life so is awed by
the beautiful mansion where Jack and his mother live. Jack is thirty-eight and thinking it is time that he got
married, he has gotten engaged to socialite, Blair
Stanford, so why is it that he constantly dreams of
Callie, a woman that he barely knows? Callie is Grace's half-sister from Jessica Bird's previous
book, AN UNFORGETTABLE LADY. As in her previous book,
the sexual tension is strong and the characters are very
good. I especially enjoyed the hero, Jack, who is
flummoxed at being so attracted to a woman when he had
decided long ago that love is not part of his makeup. Of
course, his mother is the spider in the woodpile anxious
for her son to marry "the correct" woman and tries to
undercut his desires but Jack is a strong alpha male that
knows what he wants and is determined and resourceful. AN IRRESISTIBLE BACHELOR is an easy and compelling read
that will hold your interest until the romance comes to a
happy conclusion. Jessica Bird is definitely an author to
watch.
