"Intriguing Medieval romance."
Catriona MacLeod, better known in the Highlands as the
Shrew of Assynt, refuses to marry Dogface MacDonell, a
pockmarked bully. So she sneaks out of the castle and heads
for her aunt's village. Her horse dumps her off in the
middle of a snow storm, and just when her plan of escape
looks hopeless, into her path rides a handsome bard. He
sweeps her up and heads for the nearest shelter. Tayg Munro, next chief of clan Munro, must find a wife or
his mother will find one for him. He leaves home disguised
as a bard in the hopes of finding a lass who will love him
for who he is rather than Robert the Bruce's favorite
warrior. He agrees to deliver a letter to Broc MacLeod of
Assynt, but on his way he rides into the path of a freezing
maiden with a sharp tongue. Tayg agrees to help Catriona flee her home and her
betrothed after reading the letter to her brother. The
encrypted message to Broc and Dogface place a king in
danger and Catriona squarely into Dogface's arms. The
couple must get to King Robert before her brothers catch
them. Ms. Wittig has written an intriguing Medieval romance with
charming characters.
