"Another Canadian Mountie that will leave you breathless"
Dr. Virginia Waters was three days away from her wedding
to Inspector
Zack Bullock. Yet, she felt a little unsure that he was
the right Bullock
brother. Previously, Viginia had been jilted by Zack's
brother, Andrew.
But, she was ready for marriage and a family after spending
her time
studying to become a doctor. She had known Zack when she
was younger
and knew that he would do his best to make her happy. Zack Bullock, also known as "Bull's-Eye" to his men
because he was
the best marksman in the North-West Mounted Police, was
ready to
settle down and get married. Being the eldest brother he
did feel some
responsiblity for what his brother did to Virginia but he
also knew that
they would be compatible. However, their wedding was waylaid when Zack and his men
were
ambushed by the Stiller gang. Zack was injured and several
of his
men were killed. Virginia understood the delay but she
wasn't
prepared when Zack told her that he decided he didn't want
to marry
her. Unbeknownst to Virginia, Zack had been given a warning
by
one of the gang. They threatened him regarding Virginia's
safety and
he knew he had to keep her from the danger. He thought that
eliminating his association with her would keep her safe. For protection, Virginia was taken out to stay at the
Mounties ranch until
the Stiller gang was apprehended. The commander assigned a
reluctant
Zack to be her personal guard. Although, Virginia found out
his true motives
for the broken engagement they were both still at odds.
But, with their close
confines they slowly began to come together to find
something more than
mutal attraction. Together they find trust and love even
with danger surrounding
them. THE ENGAGEMENT is a stand alone book that intertwines
with Kate
Bridges previous Mountie books. I have eagerly looked
forward to reading
Zack's story. It was definitly well worth the wait. The
characters,
action and storyline were so vivid and consuming. Again
and again,
Ms. Bridges captures readers with her rare talent.
