"Secrets and love... can they work together"
When Devon Grant's grandmother has a heart attack, Devon
leaves her life in Albuquerque behind to come run the
clinic in Enchantment. The Birth Place clinic is her
grandmother's life and would have been hers if they didn't
have a falling out many years ago. Devon has lots of
history in Enchantment, including the love that was lost
with Chief of Police, Miguel Eiden, a man who turned his
back on Devon so many years ago, breaking her heart. Miguel Eiden has seen many things. Some he had a hard time
dealing with which cost him the only woman he has ever
loved. Now Devon is back in town, turning to him the night
her grandmother had her heart attack. But a one night
stand is not something that Miguel is interested in. He
knows in his heart that Devon still loves him; he just has
to find a way to help her to realize it. When Devon finds three children hiding out in the mine
shaft, she makes promises that she knows will hurt a lot of
people. Helping these kids find their aunt so they can
stay in the country is extremely important to Devon.
Important enough to have her breaking the law which she
knows will probably drive a bigger wedge between her and
Miguel. But he's the long arm of the law, and as much as
Devon loves him, she knows she can't trust him with her
secret. Hiding children, running the clinic, delivering babies and
battling her emotions has you falling in love with Devon
Grant right away. Seeing that secrets have already caused
so much conflict in her family, you become surprised that
she keeps adding more to her list. But poor Devon is stuck
between a rock and a hard place and the only way she is
going to find her way out is if she depends on someone she
loves. THE MIDWIFE AND THE LAWMAN is a wonderful addition
to the Birth Place series.

SummaryIf Devon Grant had her way, she'd turn her back on
Enchantment. There's simply too much history in that small
town. But her sense of honor has her returning to help her
ailing grandmother run The Birth Placeeven though
she's still angry about her grandmother's past actions.
And there's also Miguel Eiden, the man who broke her heart
ten years before.
Then Devon uncovers a secret and must decide what to do
and who to trustbecause in order to help three
innocent children she might have to bend, if not break,
the law. Not so easy when the new chief of police is her
old love Miguel.
