"This one will pull at your heartstrings!"
I have got to be one of Tori Carrington's biggest
fans and I thoroughly enjoy each and every one of their
books but this book just blew me away. It tore at my
heartstrings and made me boo hoo. I really didn't want this
book to end. It was that good! Aidan Kendall has been running nearly his whole
life. He can't tell why or who from but Penelope Moon just
doesn't care. Both of these people are loners and their
hearts just yearned for each other. Penelope is a 24 year old unmarried woman who comes
from a long line of unmarried and slightly different
women. She took over her grandmother Mavis' New Age store
five years ago when her grandmother started going off the
deep end a little more than she should. Truthfully
Penelope turned it into a book store to give it a little
bit of class but the herbs and homemade soaps sold better
than the books. Aidan Kendall breezes into town and takes a job as
a teacher at the local store in Old Orchard. He keeps to
himself but for some reason he is just drawn to Penelope.
He even gets her involved in town meetings even though he's
trying to keep a low profile. All of this pseudo-calm is shattered when the
Sheriff confronts Aidan about a robbery at the gas station
in which the owner says he was robbed by Aidan of all
people. Aidan is chilled to the bone. He knows who it is
but doesn't know what he can do about it. Should he pack
up and run again or should he stay and fight since he's
finally found a place he'd like to settle and a person to
settle with. There was nothing about this book I didn't like.
The bit of intrigue kept me on my toes and the beautiful
love story between Aidan and Penelope just had me reaching
for tissues more than once. This book goes immediately on
my keeper shelf!!

SummaryWalk. Don't run...
Whatever was going to happen, Aidan Kendall had decided to
stay and ride it out. The truth was, he was tired of
running. Tired of packing up his suitcase and hitting the
road to nowhere. Tired of being alone, keeping people at
arm's length and waiting for the shadow following on his
heels to catch up with him and destroy him. Maybe that was
the reason he'd stayed in Old Orchard. Perhaps
subconsciously he'd known that this was where his running
would end.
So, he would stop running. And that included from the
mysterious and unique Penelope Moon...and whatever bonds
were developing between them. But would their love be
strong enough to survive the truth?
