"A Heartfelt Story"

A Heartfelt Story

Laura McCloud goes to Pilgrim Cove where she and her family had spent many wonderful summers when she was a child. Can she find respite from her troubles by renting a house on the ocean and coming to terms with all that has happened? Her mother died from cancer and she had breast cancer a short time later. After taking care of her mother and fighting her own cancer, she needs rest and relaxation before she can think about picking up the threads of her career. Laura has a wonderful voice and does voice-overs on T.V. She is happy to rent Sea View House on the ocean, a place that has a reputation for helping the renters and providing a place where wonderful things happen.

The first person that Laura runs into at Pilgrim Cove is a friend she knew as a teenager, Matt Parker. Matt's wife is dead and he has two adorable little boys, one with a problem stutter. Laura remembers the kiss when she was sixteen and he was seventeen. She liked him then and finds that she likes him today. He has grown into a fine man and a loving father. She meets a group of elderly gentlemen that call themselves the ROMEOs -- all helping wherever they can in the small town. Matt has taken over the business from his father. His father wants more for his son and Laura seems like just the wife and mother for his son and family but they must overcome their fears before they can realize love.

THE HOUSE ON THE BEACH is a very readable book that you won't want to put down. Apparently Ms Barrett has experienced some of the problems that the heroine has experienced and writes with a lot of emotion and love. THE HOUSE ON THE BEACH is part of her series of the warm families of Pilgrim Cove -- a place that we would all like to find in our lives, a place of love and caring. The book is beautifully written as the reader falls in love with all of the people in the small village of Pilgrim Cove. Matt's two sons have their problems but with the help of Matt, his father and Laura, they can count on a safe and secure future. The ROMEOs are a group of men intent on helping their community and that, in turn, adds contentment to their lives.

THE HOUSE ON THE BEACH is an excellent read by the talented Linda Barrett.
