"Brilliantly written Medieval."
Two months ago, Eloise Hamelin's betrothed, Hugh St.
Marten, died at her feet on the church steps. Even though
she didn't know him well, she was doing her duty. It still
stung that Hugh's brother, Roland, tried to convince Hugh
to reconsider the marriage. Now her father is charged with
treason and her home is being taken over by none other than
Roland, who's been knighted and sent by the king to secure
the keep until her father is found. In spite of everything, Roland and Eloise are attracted to
each other. On the night they plan to act on that
attraction, a messenger arrives revealing Eloise's father
is in London needing coin and being held until he can see
the king. Eloise gathers what her father needs and sneaks
away to find him. Roland follows to bring her back where
she belongs. Falling in love was the last thing either of these two
wanted to happen. But when her brother suggests Eloise and
Roland wed to ensure her dowry, they jump at the chance to
be together. After the wedding and a night of passion,
Roland heads to an abbey to locate the monk who may be able
to clear Eloise's father. But will he be successful and in
time? This story weaved a captivating web and grabbed my
attention. The gentle knight and the beautiful, headstrong
lady, together with the threat of treason and the betrayal
of a king, make this a wonderful tale. Ms. Anton is a
brilliant writer.
