REVIEW

"A heartwarming read with unforgettable characters!"

Present day, Texas

When you are running for your life and your car gets a flat tire on the highway, it's not a great situation. That's exactly how Tess Sinclair feels when she has to change her tire on a busy highway in Texas in the pouring rain. When fear is clawing at your gut and you're constantly looking over your shoulder, pulse pounding, heart racing, you are bound to get jumpy when a stranger walks up to you very quietly. That's how Tess feels when a handsome, sweet- talkin', country-singin' cowboy offers to change her tire for her. Though she knows she shouldn't really, she offers him a lift when she realizes he's not driving but walking to his destination. She feels an immediate and intense attraction to Justin but she can't even think about an affair with him -- especially considering the fact that the man she's running from is her husband!

Justin Boyd is on his way to Tennessee with dreams of being a country singer. When he encounters a beautiful woman on the highway trying to change a tire, he can't let the lady do it herself because his mama taught him right. He accepts the lift Tess offers and is intrigued and deeply attracted to her too. When he saves Tess from being snatched into a car by a nefarious man, Justin becomes determined to save Tess from the trouble she's in.

Tess realizes that she shouldn't involve Justin in her problems and tries to discourage him, but Justin, driven by past demons, is not ready to let her fight her battles alone.

CHASING A DREAM is Beth Cornelison's debut novel and also a 2000 Golden Heart Finalist in Romantic Suspense. With a plot full of fast paced action and sweet tender moments, this tale is a highly entertaining read. Ms Cornelison has penned a story full of powerful emotions and pulse pounding conflict.

The main characters of Justin and Tess are well defined, with strong, emotional, and very intriguing personalities. Tess' emotions of fear and despair of ever getting away from her husband were so powerfully demonstrated, I felt one with her throughout the book. The character of Randall, Tess' husband, comes across as cold and calculating but you still manage to see so well into his soul. Randall, I felt, is a character who could send chills down your spine by just looking at you.

The dialogue was interesting throughout the story and I especially enjoyed the moments when Justin tries to convert Tess into a country music fan. CHASING A DREAM is a wonderful and heartwarming read with lots of memorable moments and definitely a cast of unforgettable characters. I recommend this book to all lovers of Romantic Suspense!
