"A Satisfying Tale of Love and Commitment"

Nolan McKinnon, a thirty year old bachelor, is left custody of his six-year-old niece, Sammy. Knowing very little about children, he is dismayed and uncertain how to care for the little girl who is experiencing the loss of her mother and father. Not only does he have the child to care for but he also has all the bills owed by his sister and brother-in-law. He goes to the Birth Place trying to get an extension on paying the bill but runs into a dead end.

Kim is new in the town of Enchantment. Looking for family, she is working for her grandmother, Lydia, at the Birth Place. She has a lot of hurt inside from being sent to various foster homes after the death of her mother so when she sees Sammy, she is anxious to help. She is prickly on the outside but soft on the inside, especially for the sweet little girl that reminds her of herself so many years ago. Although she is attracted to Nolan, she plans to leave town shortly and isn't interested in any close relationships.

Nolan owns the town newspaper and when he starts receiving notes regarding the Birth Place and calling Lydia a baby killer, he starts investigating with the help of Kim who is sure that her grandmother is innocent of any wrong doing.

LEAVING ENCHANTMENT is a satisfying tale of two people falling in love with each other as they try to care for a broken-hearted little girl. Nolan is the typical bachelor that has to make room in his life for the little waif and Kim easily makes room for the child but is afraid of a commitment to Nolan. The fourth story in the Birth Place series, the story flows well making it an easy and interesting read by C. J. Carmichael.

Kim's a newcomer to Enchantment—one who seems a little too determined not to get involved with anyone. But Nolan can't refuse help, even if it comes from a woman with secrets in her past....
