"Entertaining look at three generations of women"

In Pueblo, Colorado after two decades of marriage, forty- six years old Trudy just separated from her husband Rick, who has a younger model. Her next door neighbor Roberta Williams just lost her spouse Edgar of over six decades as he recently died. Another neighbor Shandelle is a wannabe author raising two children and a husband who wants her to forget her writing foolishness. Her granddaughter thirty something six foot plus physical specimen Jade has come from California to stay with her grandmother. Jade's man is in jail, but soon she learns he has some other squeeze.

Shandelle's brother-in-law takes Jade to a nearby gym because she wants to become a boxer as she once knocked out a male mugger with one punch. At the gym her trainer is Rueben Perry. As Jade and Rueben train together, they fall in love. Meanwhile Rick pleads with Trudy to take him back, Roberta adjusts to widowhood, and Shandelle begins writing her book as they all watch Jade fight professionally in the ring.

This is an entertaining look at three generations of women each having a different type of male relationship problem. The story line rotates between the four females as each has a story to tell. Though profanity is used, it seems apropos to the situation and not used for shock value. Readers will find THE GODDESSES OF KITCHEN AVENUE charming and enjoyable as each one struggles with a personal crisis.

Summary

Struggling to pick up the pieces after her marriage falls apart, Trudy Marino finds support from a quirky, eclectic group of friends—her goddesses of Kitchen Avenue. There's Jade, a fiery social worker who's finding unexpected strength to deal with her "player" ex-husband; Jade's grandmother, Roberta, who has just lost her husband of sixty-two years—and through memory and grief wonders what to do with the rest of her life; Shannelle, an aspiring writer, determined to realize her talent despite formidable obstacles; and Angel, a young, quietly knowing photographer who makes Trudy uncover a sensuality she never knew—even as he tries to get over the one love he can never really forget.

When Trudy weighs what she and her husband still share against new possibilities, she'll surprise everyone—including herself—as she tries to reconcile the best of both.
