"Great addition to this mystery series."
Mrs. Jeffries and her cadre of detectives are at it again!
From the facts-collecting cook to the spying butler, the
household staff of the oblivious, but good-hearted, Det.
Witherspoon are once again on the case, this time two
seemingly related murders 10 years apart. Even if
you've never read a Mrs. Jeffries mystery, you'll
immediately be drawn in to the humor and antics of the
staff and friends as they attempt to lead their beloved
detective down the correct path of the investigation. A clergyman was killed in the night at the foot of a
church, a church not his own. None of the family supposedly
knew the man was in town from his missionary work in India,
and of course, no one knows why anyone would kill him. A 10-
year-old corpse found in one of the abandoned houses owned
by his family further dramatizes the mystery. Mrs. Jeffries
and the staff have to work double time in order to make
sense of the seemingly random details of their case. Once again, Brightwell delivers a speedy mystery with verve
and humor. The intimacy and good naturedness of the staff
and the investigator makes one feel immediately at home.
This is the perfect book to cuddle with in front of a warm
fire.
