REVIEW

"Passionate romance with lots of suspense."

The widow Lady Maggie Graham is surprised when her uncle arranges a marriage for her to Viscount Charles Langdon. It seems Justin, Maggie's brother, owes a lot of money. This new husband will get Justin out of debt and give her a generous monthly allotment. Charles is much older than Maggie, but she recalls that he's a nice man, so it shouldn't be too hard being married to him. Charles also supports Maggie's desire to continue her charity work in the poor sections of London. Then Maggie meets Jamie Langdon, her husband-to-be's nephew, and becomes quite smitten with him.

Maggie has taken up wearing disguises as she goes about unmasking fake mesmerist and psychics. Doing this, she's made a powerful enemy who's sworn to kill her. Jamie hears of Maggie's plan to attend a seance and goes along to protect her. This is the same time that the infamous Jack the Ripper is roaming London's streets. Jamie doesn't want to fall in love with Maggie, but he can't help it. Maggie will do her duty and marry Charles, but her heart will always belong to Jamie.

This passionate romance is very good with lots of action and suspense.

Summary

Mirror, Mirror, On The Wall...

Men! If they aren't accusing Lady Maggie Graham of witchcraft or murder, they're marrying her off to old men who drop dead at the altar. Who Is The Most Seductive...

Women! They conduct themselves in a completely inappropriate manner—enjoying risqué amusements in secret theatres; running about disguised in the seediest parts of the city—and then they call you vile names for coming to their rescue. And no woman is more wicked, more cunning, more intoxicating than Lady Maggie...

...Of Them All?

Amidst the pageantry, rampant desire, and very real dangers of Queen Victoria's London, a bevy of lovers is about to stumble into a spectacle of sin and scandal, where appearances are deceiving and anything can happen when desire is pulling all the strings...
