"A darker type of Regency romance."
As a slave in India, Christian English has nothing he can
claim as his own. His freedom, dignity and spirit have been
stripped from him. Even his name is just a convenient label
bestowed on him by his captors. Suffering from amnesia,
Christian remembers nothing of his past. Gideon Hartwood (from SCANDAL) rescues Christian and takes
him back to England to heal and search for his identity.
Christian falls in love with Gideon's sister, Bethany, but
realizes he can't propose marriage to her. Not knowing his
past, Christian could very well be a married man with
children himself. Or worse. When Christian regains his
family and identity, but not his memories, he can finally
offer for Bethany. She, however, has her own secret to
keep. Something so shattering that she feels revealing it
would drive Christian away from her forever. The secrets the lovers keep to themselves are not "the big
misunderstanding" kind. They are dark secrets, the kind
romance novels rarely delve into. Cudos to Ms. Cullman for
daring to show a darker side to our beloved Regency England
romances.
