REVIEW

"Hysterically funny paranormal romance, oh my!"

Katie MacAlister has proven to be a formidable writer taking on such genres as historical, contemporary, young adult and now paranormal romance. Not only does she write in all of these genres but she does it so very well.

Joy Randall and her best friend and co-worker Roxanne or Roxy for short decide to take a side trip to the Czech Republic while at a Frankfort Bookfair because they've heard that a GothFaire will be held partly on the grounds of the famous author C. J. Dante who writes about vampires. Both Joy and Roxy have read and reread each of C. J. Dante's books and have decided they must meet a vampire in the flesh, so to speak.

They do not know what they wish for because not only do they get their wish but they get tangled up in a murder mystery of unequaled proportions. Roxy gets especially miffed when all of the men decide to fall at Joy's feet each wanting her undying devotion and attention. Now Joy has to pick and choose among them which may prove to be quite an interesting dilemma. Roxy doesn't help matters when she eggs Joy and each of the men on.

I never realized there was such a thing as hysterically funny paranormal romantic comedy but Katie proves that she can do anything. If she doesn't stop writing such funny books, I may be committed unless I stop reading these books in public places. Still her books are worth every strange look I receive! As always, I eagerly look forward to what she will come up with next!

Joy Randall's Top 5 Tips for Vampire Hunters:
1. Location, location, location. Remember, if you wouldn't be there, neither would a bloodsucker.
2. Trust your eyes. You know the handsome, annoyingly arrogant, self-assured man in the shadows with long hair and a cleft in his chin? He's your vampire.
3. No matter how tempting it might be, do not "accidentally" acquire a paper cut and suggest your vampire kiss your finger to make it better.
4. From here on out, play it cool. Don't offer to accompany your prince of the night on the talk show circuit and whatever you do, don't offer him your heart.
5. And most of all, remember--being a vampire is nothing to laugh about.

Summary

On a visit to the Czech Republic, Joy Randall (a skeptic of all things paranormal), is suddenly thrown into the dark, dangerous world where vampires known as Dark Ones stalk the night. Armed with nothing more than a wicked sense of humor and a bag of rune stones, Joy does her best to untangle the threads involving a serial killer, vampires (both real and pretend), and the handsome, mysterious man who may or may not be what he appears.
