REVIEW

"This chick lit investigative tale is a delight"

San Francisco web site editor Jennifer Brenner thought she had a strong chance at obtaining the promotion because she is the only in-house candidate and has received praise for her work by management. However, an email inadvertently sent to her tells otherwise as the selecting official feels she is not ready to become managing editor and wants to hire an outsider.

Needing time to recover from the job rejection and between boyfriends as her soul mate dropped her, Jen accepts a reporter position at newspaper in Meredith, Montana. Once in town Jen has the pick of a somewhat limited litter of males. However, once she follows the polluting perilous trail of dead fish, she wants only the hugs of mid fortyish Bruce Mortensen, but he is a bit preoccupied with obtaining a divorce and working out details for custody of their preadolescent child. Then again there is her love forever back in the City by the Bay if she decides to return to California.

This chick lit investigative tale is a delight because of the lead protagonist. Jen takes her work seriously so that she is a rare sub-genre bird as her brain contains electrons besides the male icon. The story line is fun to follow though the intrigue elements are overshadowed by the antics (including her inquiries into the fishy remains) of the lead character. IS THAT A MOOSE IN YOUR POCKET? is a strong chick lit suspense tale and readers will welcome its originality.
