"Fifteen years later, they get a second chance at love"
Alexia and Robert are desperately in love, but are in
different places in their lives. Their breakup is stormy and
final. Alexia marries someone else a few years later, and
Robert achieves his dream of becoming a best-selling author.
Yet both still think fondly of the other and regret the way
their relationship ended. Fifteen years later, Alexia Bell is divorced with twin
daughters, and is a third-grade teacher. She is also an
aspiring writer herself and goes to the local bookstore café
to write whenever she has the chance. A famous author is
scheduled to sign that day. Alexia is interested -- and then
she learns that Robert is the author in question. Too many
years have passed, in her opinion. Still, she can't help
watching him from a secluded table in the café. Robert Matheson has always wondered what Allie was doing
throughout the years. He was devastated when he saw her
engagement announcement just when he was finally going to go
back to her. He didn't want marriage until he knew he could
provide for her. Too bad he didn't explain this to Allie
before they broke up. When Allie shows up at his booksigning, it's like a dream
come true for Robert. He still loves her, never stopped.
They have a brief, extremely passionate night together, but
they live in separate worlds. Alexia and Robert sizzle in
the bedroom; what about the rest of the time? Is there any
way for them to be together? Allie hates the idea of
uprooting her girls and Robert likes living near his
publisher. What will happen to them this time? I really enjoyed the reunion story aspect of ANOTHER CHANCE.
Ms. LaCroix has written a compelling story with valid
reasons for the original breakup. Sure, both Robert and
Alexia should have discussed their rationale behind their
actions back then, but they were understandably caught up in
the passion of their love. When a second chance arises, this
time they talk more about what they want and each decides to
sacrifice a little to make their future possible. This is
the first novel I've read from this author, but I
will look for her books in the future. Sensuality: Explicit sex; sexually explicit scenes: 6.
