"Charming mystery with a cast of colorful characters."
English teacher Grace Hollister thinks that the worst thing
to happen to her on her research/pleasure trip to England
is being deserted by her traveling companion for an old
flame. But she's happy enough to go on alone, until she
finds a man herself - lying face-down in a stream. Fortunately, Peter Fox isn't dead, thanks to the timing of
Grace's arrival and quick thinking. She's relieved he's all
right, but puzzled that he doesn't seem concerned that
someone tried to kill him, flirting with her and inviting
her to breakfast the next morning. When he doesn't appear,
Grace begins to worry and gets his address from the
innkeeper. But on the way, she's abducted by strangers who
also have an interest in the enigmatic Mr. Fox. Thus begins
Grace's adventure of mystery, murder and mayhem, with a
little romance (as in Lord Byron) thrown in. This is a charming mystery with a roguish hero, brave
heroine and a cast of colorful characters. As a former
English major, I enjoyed the literary references, but even
if you don't like poetry, you'll have fun unraveling the
mystery and watching Grace and Peter's unlikely romance
bloom.
