Angelina Mercer is a good-time girl, the life of the party, the trophy girlfriend on the arm of wealthy, elderly gentlemen. Federal Agent Finn Carver needs her to get close to a plutonium thief. When Angelina's latest benefactor dies, Finn uses the one thing he has that will ensure her cooperation: the identity of her birth mother.

Angelina has a long-standing distrust of cops, going back to her high school years. Finn is fighting memories of another good-time girl, his deceased wife who'd almost gotten him killed. Each is determined to keep the other at arms length while they go undercover to find the stash of hidden plutonium. What Finn neglects to tell Angelina, until it's too late for her to back out of their agreement, is that her mother is dead and the man they're going after is her mother's husband.

Ms. Solomon has written an emotionally taut tale of two people, damaged by their pasts, who come together and discover that old hurts can be healed by the right person. As they become more embroiled in their search, they come to realize that not everything is as it seems, not only with their case, but with one another. This book offers several twists and turns that kept me enthralled to the last page. Ms. Solomon has a gift for creating flawed characters and unique plots that make for an entertaining read. This one was exceptional!
