"Moving and emotional take on the guardian storyline."
Diane calls her guardian the Devil Man. He visits the
school where she's cloistered once a year, and she doesn't
hear anything else from him. Then, she gets in trouble and
finds herself living with this guardian who's not quite as
old as she once believed. Daniel St. John needs a woman and Diane will do nicely. In
laying a trap for the man who devastated his sister, he
needs bait and feels no qualms about using Diane. The rage
burning inside him has eaten away his sense of fair play,
leaving no room for softer feelings. Until Diane. These
two, thrown together by circumstances, must find their own
truths and deal with their feelings before they can find
each other. As usual, Ms. Hunter is a gifted storyteller. I've been a
fan since her first book. I must admit to being a little
nervous about the often-done guardian and the girl in his
care story, but this book has many sub-plots and emotions
that keep the reader interested. If you haven't discovered
Ms. Hunter's books, get one soon!

SummaryAn innocent searching for her lost family, Diane Albret
finds herself living in the house of Daniel St. John. The
world thinks she is his cousin, but she knows differently.
She also knows that her attraction to this dangerous, dark
and mysterious man is perilous to both her heart and her
future. Worse, she fears his generosity is a prelude to
seduction and that he plans to make her his
mistressan offer she does not trust herself to
refuse.
Daniel indeed has plans for Diane, but they involve his
scheme to complete a lifelong dark quest. The legendary
seducer also has a secret about her lost past that he will
do anything to keep; a secret that will put both their
lives in jeopardy even as the passion they deny threatens
to break out of all control.
