"Magical white tiger plays matchmaker"
During a military tour in India, Lieutenant Lord Jason
Renwick was given the honor by the Maharaja to accompany
him and his son on a tiger hunt. It was reported that the
tiger, due to an injury to its paw, has become a man-
eater and was attacking the village. The Maharaja's son,
the prince, is a spoiled only son. Not listening to anyone,
he walks right into the tiger's path. Jason saves the
prince's life and sustains injury that all but blinds him.
As a thank you, the maharaja gives Jason a white tiger cub,
called Sahib, which the Indian people claim is special. Two years later while traveling to see an ailing relative,
Jason hears a voice he could listen to forever. When one
of our senses is lost, the other ones compensate. Jason
claims to his aunt that he hears the voice of an angel. Miss Eustacia Coleson is traveling with her stepmother and
has stopped at an inn for the night. Her stepmother is
drooling on and on about getting Eustacia to marry Mr.
Weaver. Jason is also at the same inn for the night with
Sahib and his Aunt, Lady Blackburne, when he hears his
angel's voice. Lady Blackburne talks Eustacia into going to Jason's
estate, Tiger's Lair, for an extended visit. Both have
reasons for going -- Lady Blackburne to give Jason some
purpose in his life, Eustacia to compile information given
to her by Jason about his life in India so that a book can
be written. Eustacia doesn't want to go home where smelly
old Mr. Weaver will accost her at every turn. What happens in TAMING LORD RENWICK is intriguing. With
Sahib overseeing, Jason and Eustacia get together. This is
the first book by Ms Jeanne Savery that I read. I picked it
up because I like stories that have animal matchmakers in
them. Sahib is magical and Ms Savery didn't let me down.
I've put TAMING OF LORD RENWICK on my keeper shelf and have
re-read it repeatedly. Maybe I'm biased, but I've loved
this book and would recommend it to everyone. It's a sweet
poignant story of trust, humor, and love where the hero and
heroine are not confident in their feelings because they
consider they have handicaps. I can't say enough of TAMING
LORD RENWICK besides find yourself a copy and read it.
