REVIEW

"An enjoyable read"

In Coyote Springs, Texas Marlee Reid knows the competition for the job of sports anchor on KNCS-TV is stiff and her chances are slim because news director Renn Davis has been on her case since he took over six months ago. However, Renn shocks Marlee when he supports her efforts to obtain the job she desires.

Marlee causes havoc when she plunges into the men's locker room following a basketball game to interview the star player. Instead of chastising her as she expects, Renn struggles to keep from bursting into laughter as he finds the incident amusing. When the ratings suddenly soar, Renn realizes Marlee is an asset that he wants to keep as a starter on his team. As they begin to fall in love, Marlee learns she probably will not score the sports anchor job, making her wonder if Renn simply wanted to slam dunk her when he insisted they make a great team in and out of the news room.

Readers will enjoy this newsroom romance due to the feisty female protagonist. She knows what she wants and goes out to achieve her desires even if she plunges amidst a sea of naked hunks. Renn is her perfect counterpoint as he and Marlee battle about almost everything including how to pronounce the names of cities. Though the story line has been used in movies and books and the concept of females doing sports is old news, fans will appreciate this fine contemporary tale.

Summary

She's aiming for a promotion...and scores love instead

Marlee Reid is up against some tough competition for her dream job of sports anchor on KNCS-TV in Coyote Springs, Texas. That news director Renn Davis has been critical of her work ever since he arrived six months earlier doesn't help. So Marlee is amazed when Renn wants to help her win the job, even after the chaos she causes barging into the men's locker room for an interview with a nothing-to-hide basketball star. Renn can't reprimand her—he can't even keep a straight face. Besides, the ratings soar. The fiasco is a turning point for Renn and Marlee. They're a team now, in more ways than one.

But just how final is that score?

When it looks as if Marlee might not get the anchor position after all, she wonders if Renn has been stringing her along—about her dream job...and her dreams about the two of them.
