"An Absorbing Story"
Chloe St. Claire grew up in the best part of town and had
everything that money could buy but she longed for
something more. Her parents love her but they are cool and
stereotypically upper class. They are shocked when she
becomes a psychologist for the local police department and
are promoting a romance with her and an ambitious man that
wants to be a politician. Vince Coronado grew up on the wrong side of town, on the
streets without family support. He is a little rough
around the edges but is so grateful to the man that pulled
him off of the streets and was like a father to him that he
is determined to nail his killer who is one of the local
bad guys. When he gets involved in a police shooting, he
is sent to Chloe for counseling. He takes one look at
elegant Chloe and knows she will never understand him but
he underestimates the beautiful psychologist. There is an instant attraction between the hero and heroine
although they both realize that nothing can come of it.
Chloe tries to get him to talk and he tries to evade the
questions and as secrets are revealed they end up
comforting each other and caring turns into something more. THE GOOD DAUGHTER is the third book in the Deep in the
Heart series with more to come. I love the scenario of two
people from different walks of life finding that special
something in each other. Both Chloe and Vince are
wonderful characters, both loving and caring and the reader
gets the feeling that they are really made for each other
if they can look past the surface of their lives. All of
the secondary characters play their roles to perfection to
create an absorbing tale. Jean Brashear writes a
fascinating story, a book that is engrossing from beginning
to end. She is definitely an author to watch and
appreciate and I will be looking forward to the next book
in this terrific series.

SummaryChloe St. Claire grew up as a daughter of
privilegebut when she started to find the advantages
empty, she began to carve out a life of her own. And that
meant taking a job as a police psychologist. She's worked
for the Austin Police Department for eighteen months, and
she's a lot less naive than she was. Still, she's never
met anyone like this detective.
Vince Coronado is in the worst trouble possibleunder
investigation by Internal Affairs for killing a
manand his boss has ordered him to spill his guts to
a woman who could never understand the world he's from.
Their powerful attraction is improbable. Or is it? Because
when circumstances lead Chloe to discover lie upon lie
about herself she intuitively knows that Vince is the only
person who will understand her sense of suddenly belonging
nowhere.
