"A light Regency romp."
A modern woman, Edwina Parrish dedicates her life to
helping the masses. As editor of the Ladies' Fashionable
Cabinet magazine, she steers articles from frivolous
entertainment to stories subtly educating women on current
political issues. Edwina prefers slow steady reform to the
upheaval of revolution. She witnessed the French terror and
paid a terrible price for her participation. Now, all of
her careful planning for the magazine could end abruptly
with the unexpected change of ownership. Anthony Morehouse presents himself to the world as a
reckless gambler and pleasure seeker. Due to an excess of
alcohol and an error in judgment, Anthony wins a ladies
magazine run by his childhood nemesis, Edwina. Quickly
ending his plan to sell the magazine, Anthony engages
Edwina in a challenge for ownership. He envisions
outwitting and seducing the unconventional and outspoken
woman. Anthony changes Edwina's carefully organized and discipline
life into chaos, whereas Edwina succeeds in causing Anthony
to reexamine his priorities. Only the exposure of Edwina's
secret political agenda can destroy their growing
friendship and love, as Anthony, whose selfish lifestyle of
disregarding the less fortunate, overreacts to Edwina's
deceit. Edwina and Anthony complement each other nicely. Ms. Hern
has penned a light Regency romp, which will please readers.
