REVIEW

"Best book of this ghost-hunters series."

Once again, we visit those intrepid ghost hunters, Eve and Lucien Thorpe, as well as all their friends. In this installment, there are a multitude of ghosts for Lucien and Eve to deal with - some of them especially malevolent. However, Lucien and Eve make a formidable team. This time around, Eve desperately wants a child, but Lucien is reluctant to grant her wish because he fears bringing a child into such a cruel world.

Lucien still has visions of the violent rape and torture of twin sisters, Isabelle and Margaret, by Union deserters during the Civil War. After the war was over, the girls continued to live at Glover Manor with the baby one of them conceived. No one knew which sister had had the baby boy, Tommy. Then one night, the sisters' home was deliberately torched. Both sisters, Tommy and a mysterious man died in the violent blaze. Now it's up to Lucien and Eve to reveal the murderer so all of the ghosts haunting Glover Manor can rest in peace. They learn some surprising facts along the way.

Ms. Fallon just gets better with her series. SHADES OF SCARLET is her best yet. If you like ghost stories, you'll really enjoy this one. I did! And read more about Lucien and Eve's previous adventures in SHADES OF WINTER and SHADES OF MIDNIGHT.
