REVIEW

"Adorable story of kids looking for a daddy."

Thirteen-year-old Rayne Houston is living with her mom, Nicole, at Mercy House in Las Vegas. On her way home from school, she finds a 5-year-old boy, Tim, in an alley. She takes him home and hides him.

Rayne believed her mother when she said Rayne's father was dead. Then Rayne finds a phone number for her father, Aaron Luchetti, and calls it. She's shocked when her father's brother answers saying he's not there right now, but she can leave a message. Rayne is angry at her mother and decides to go to Illinois and meet her father. Rayne tells Tim of her plan, and he joins her in the Daddy Quest. Finding Rayne has run away, Nicole contacts Aaron, whom she let leave her to go into the priesthood.

Between Rayne finding her father, the Timinator asking every man "Are you my daddy?," and Nicole and Aaron finally resolving their 14-year issues with their lives and vocations, this story is adorable. I also enjoyed the 1-800- Ask-a-Nun and the comic book crime-fighting character, Angel of Light.

Summary

Thirteen-year-old Rayne Houston is on a quest. After discovering that her father is alive, she angrily packs her bag and goes off to find him, with only a six-year-old orphan named Tim at her side.

Nicole Houston is frantic when she discovers Rayne gone. Fourteen years ago she'd thought lying would be best for everyone because the choices Aaron Luchetti had made meant it was impossible for them to be together. Now it's time to face the past and tell the truth. And once that's done—and they find Rayne—maybe, just maybe, they can become the family they all so desperately need.
