"Two hilarious stories about best friends and the one who got away!"
Both stories in this delightfully funny Duets are by
Darlene Gardner. I really had a fun time reading this one
about best friends and the OWGA or one who got away. Once Bitten tells us Zoe O'Neall's story.
She had a big crush on Jack Carter back in college but made
sure he never knew it because he was so unfocused on
schoolwork and focused on baseball. Zoe's two best friends,
Matt and Amy goad her into looking Jack up just to see if
the zing ever went away. Zoe thinks it's a huge mistake
but she goes along with it never realizing just how
surprised she will be when she finally does meet up with
Jack again. Twice Shy is Amy Donnatelli and Matt
Burke's story. They each tell a huge lie about their One
Who Got Away (OWGA) and then the lies just get bigger and
bigger. Amy and Matt get so involved in their lies that
they don't see their noses in front of their faces nor
their attraction for each other. After all, they are best
friends, right? Add Amy's old neighbor Fabio who is lonely
so he keeps threatening to sue Amy so he can just have
company and you have the perfect mix of zany characters who
will have you laughing your head off. I'm a big fan of Darlene Gardner's stories and
thoroughly enjoyed these. I always look forward to what
Darlene will write next.

SummaryOnce Smitten by Darlene Gardner
That's who Jack Carter is to Zoe O'Neill — the one who got
away. Sure, she denies it, but Zoe must contact her onetime
college crush just to prove her point. However, Jack's got
his own point to prove — he may be one hot jock, but he
strikes out potential mates before the fourth date. Now
he's determined to break the streak...with Zoe!
Twice Shy by Darlene Gardner
That's who Matt Burke and Amy Donatelli are to each other —
the ones who never left. Since their friend Zoe found true
love, these two best buds are on their own for the very
first time. How will such a workaholic lawyer and a free
spirit ever get together? Easy — someone's suing the free
spirit, so it's full steam ahead for this duo!
