"Wonderful contemporary western."
Dahlia Montgomery is still recovering from being widowed
over two years ago, when her husband and his girlfriend
were killed in a car accident. Since then, Dahlia has lost
everything she owned to lawsuits and the IRS. She's living
with her father when she agrees to go with her friend,
Pegine Murphy, to Callister, Idaho, to work for Pegine's
cousin, Jerry. While waiting for Jerry, an angry cowboy, Luke McRae, comes
barreling out of the U.S. Forest Service office. Dahlia
doesn't move fast enough and ends up with spilled coffee
and some nasty bumps. Luke stops by to check on her later
and finds her in a house that doesn't have the heat turned
on. He takes care of that and several other of Dahlia's
problems. Luke really likes Dahlia, but he's got his own
problems dealing with his alcoholic ex-wife. With Dahlia trying to trust a man after her ex-husband's
betrayal, with Luke trying to trust a woman after his ex-
wife's problems, and with Pegine's adventures, this story
keeps you wondering when and how Dahlia and Luke will ever
get together. A good story.
