"Lighthearted and fun historical."
November 1920 finds Daisy Gumm Majesty hard at work. Her
husband, Billy, returned from war a cripple after being
shot and hindered in his breathing after being gassed.
Sometimes life isn't fair, especially for poor Billy. But
being a Gumm, Daisy finds a way to make a living for them
by being a Spiritualistic Reader. Sometimes she feels
guilty about taking the money. But in Pasadena, there are
so many rich people who want to give their money away, she
decides some of it might as well support her family. Daisy has no way of knowing that her work may very well get
her in trouble. When she accepts a job to exorcise a ghost
from a client's basement, she finds a runaway. And not just
any runaway, but a girl from one of the most prominent
families in Pasadena. What is Daisy to do now? To learn the
answer, you'll have to read this book. FINE SPIRITS is lighthearted summer reading that should
appeal to most readers. It's not a romance or a great
mystery, but fun, nonetheless.
