REVIEW

"Humorous, romantic, delightful western."

Georgia Kennedy's life is turned upside down after receiving a letter from her grandfather in Chicago. It seems the two gold mines she and her late father owned, one of which she sold to her longtime pal, Cougar Barnes, she doesn't own at all. Her grandfather grubstaked the mines for his son years earlier and is now calling in his marker.

Georgie may be a woman wild as the wind and dress like a man, walk like a man, talk like a man, fight like a man and work like a man, but she's honest, trustworthy, loyal and would NEVER sell a gold claim to a friend if she didn't really own it. Georgie must leave her claim and travel to Chicago to straighten things out with her grandfather, Alvin Kennedy, owner of Kennedy Imports. Grandfather Alvin is making plans of his own. Alvin wants Georgia to marry Alexander Stanford, whose father owns Stanford Shipping. The merger of these two families would be a powerful business proposition. Now the fun begins.

First, Georgie must be transformed into a lady. This is where My Fair Lady meets The Unsinkable Molly Brown. What a delight! The antics are a hoot as Georgie bends the rules of ladyhood. And Cougar follows her to Chicago. Georgie thinks he's only worried about his gold claim. Little does she know that Cougar is just following his heart. He sees Georgie as she really is - a smart woman who's beautiful without corsets and frills; a woman who's gentle and lighthearted and packs a great right hook.

BECOMING GEORGIA is pure reading enjoyment. Ms. Carmichael has written a fast-paced, humorous, magical story sure to satisfy anyone with a romantic heart. The wonderful cast of secondary characters is an added bonus. Don't miss this very special treat.

Getting hitched is the last thing on Georgie Kennedy's mind. But if she wants to hold onto her Arizona gold mine, she may have to make nice with the strait-laced simpleton her grandfather wants her to wed.

Summary

FROM FRONTIER GIRL... TO CITY WOMAN?

Georgie Kennedy is so mad she could spit. Just weeks after she sold one of her Arizona gold claims to Cougar Barnes, some two-bit lawyer has the gall to tell her the mine wasn't hers to begin with. Georgie knows her rascally grandpa is behind the whole mess-and that she'd better high-tail it to Chicago to set him straight. Should be simple enough. She's wiped the floor with men twice her size. How much trouble can one old coot be?

...Plenty, that's how much. Grandpa could give a mule lessons in stubborn-and he's hell-bent on turning "Miss Georgia" into a petticoat-wearing, curtsying priss. He tells her that if she stays on in Chicago for exactly one year-and makes nice with the strait-laced simpleton he wants her to wed-the claim will be hers, free and clear. Now, getting hitched is just about the last thing on Georgie's mind. But between her unwanted suitor and Cougar Barnes, who comes all the way to Chicago to make sure he gets his property back-and to check on Georgie-she has a lot of thinking to do. And soon she has to decide if her heart belongs in the big city...or at home on the range.
