"She created her perfect man... but is he really what she wanted?"
Judi Somers is a successful author with no love, no family.
All she has is her shelf of books, and the man who lives
through the wild adventures that she pens for him. Strong,
suave, able to face any danger with a smile and come out
shining, Race Parsec is the only man that Judi loves. When
she runs into an old friend and he confesses his secret
project (working on androids) to her, Judi has a most
interesting idea to propose. Felix Varlden has always had a thing for Judi Somers, but
she's never looked at him twice. Though her latest
brainstorm is more off-the-wall than anything he's ever
heard before, he can't refuse. Months later their
brainchild is born. Leo is everything Judi has ever wanted. Handsome. Dashing.
He cooks like a dream and has a voice like velvet. But
there's a problem. All the carefully chosen traits are
backfiring. Leo's devotion becomes stifling, his charm
attracts other women while his blithely acidic tongue
alienates friends. At the same time, Judi begins to miss
the close relationship she had regained with Felix while
they worked on Leo. Could it be that perfection isn't all
it's cut out to be? TOO MUCH FOR WORDS starts out rough. Judi isn't an
idealistic young thing, and Ms Rubino writes an older,
wiser sort of chick lit that takes a bit to get into, but
once you're there, the story takes off. It's not sweet and
it's not agonizingly romantic but it is a very contemporary
story of love where you least expect it. It's not very
science-y, despite the premise, and the characters are just
flawed enough that you actually believe in them. While TOO
MUCH FOR WORDS was a little too light on the romance side
for this reviewer's total pleasure, it was a fun book for
an afternoon's read. Sensuality Level: Mild. Most intimacy is off screen, what's
on screen is not very explicit or extended.
