"Engaging police procedural romance"

In Philadelphia, Mayor Bill Henley orders police detective Brady O'Keefe to learn how his top backer for reelection died in a seedy hotel. Moral judge of the city elite, influential Morton Sanderson was found dead apparently sharing kinky sex with someone. Henley believes that someone set up Morton while Brady cynically believes the deceased was simply a hypocrite.

To put a better spin on the expected negative media coverage, Henley sends public relations expert (actually rookie) Erin Mahoney to work with Brady. The timing may be bad, but Erin and Brady are attracted to one another though their relationship is strained by their respective jobs. He has a case to solve that does not need baby-sitting added to his job description even if she is the prettiest baby he has ever seen. She needs this PR even if it means riding shotgun with a police detective who makes her forget her prime focus is damage control. As they work closely together, they fall in love, but will a relationship survive the investigation?

HEAT OF THE NIGHT is an engaging police procedural romance that readers will enjoy. With all the media coverage, how a civilian is allowed so much involvement in the case seems stretched but that enables a battle of the wills and attractions to occur between the opposites. Erin and Brady make quite a team entertaining readers with their professional and personal relationships leading to Donna Kauffman providing the audience with a fun to read romantic suspense.
