"An emotionally uplifting tale of love conquering all..."
Julie Morrison's childhood wasn't the most desired. In
fact, she did her best to run away from it. Now miles
away in Memphis, she is in the process of erasing her
former life and starting fresh. Her career is going
better than ever and she is engaged to Steve Land, a man
who loves her. An unexpected run in with childhood friend and attorney,
Zach MacRae, tilts her world on its axis, spinning her
life out of control. Zach sees right through Julie and
the charade she is performing with her life. She is not
only lying to herself but to everyone she crosses paths
with, a ruse to hide her past. She is drawn to Zach and
soon events lead Julie to end her relationship with
Steve. Both Zach and Julie have ghosts from their pasts
that they must deal with. Julie's lies shatter her world and her past comes back
full force. Zach informs her that her parents are
incarcerated, leaving her half-brother Peter to fend for
himself. She has no choice but to go back to Baxter, Ohio
and face her demons and re-establish a relationship from
the brother she walked away from. Zach has his own dragons to slay and finds himself back in
Baxter as well. His loving family will do anything to
help him heal, but it is Julie who has the special touch
that can calm his soul, and he hers. But, can their love
survive all the baggage both carry and are wading through? Teresa Hill pens a poignant tale of love conquering all.
Both characters are strong and compelling, perfect to help
each other through the life trials they face. This book
touched my heart in so many ways as I was able to identify
in some way with each character. The emotion in this book
is at a fever pitch and very realistic. I look forward to
finding Teresa's backlist and await new releases. Reviewed by Janice Wagner
