"Vivid, exciting characters and a strong mystery. Second book featuring cursed dueling pistols."
Widow Felicity Merriwether's re-entry into society places
her in the path of Major Anthony Sheridan. Six years ago, a
love-struck Felicity spent a passionate, illicit night with
Anthony before he left for war. After his departure,
Felicity discovered she was pregnant and believing he
abandoned her, she quickly wed a wealthy merchant. The
marriage deteriorated into a nightmare when her husband
learned of the duplicity. Felicity's fortune changed when
her husband died and she found a talent for increasing his
businesses. Felicity's goals are simple. She wishes to
raise her son and avoid matrimony. A war-weary Anthony returns home to heal his injured leg
before shipping off to India. At a society event, he
unexpectedly stumbles upon the woman who callously betrayed
him by wedding another. Bitter and disillusioned, Anthony
decides to seduce and then leave Felicity. Before Anthony can set his plan into motion, one of his
officers is murdered. The killer cleverly disguises his act
as a suicide. The investigation leads Anthony to challenge
the likely suspect to a duel. Using the infamous cursed
dueling pistols, the match ends with no injuries and with
certain truths revealed. Murder impedes Anthony's seduction of Felicity, and facts
regarding her son also alter his course of action.
Complicating their emotional journey is a pseudo-niece with
her own agenda, as well as a vicious killer. THE WEDDING AFFAIR is the second in a series featuring the
cursed dueling pistols. This tale displays Ms. King's skill
at portraying rich, vivid characters and gives the added
excitement of a strong mystery plot.
