While dark, the story is not overwhelming, and the fantasy aspect of the book is very well done. The dragons are fierce and cruel, and the Scottish Highlands are vividly described. The battle between good and evil is a main theme, but family plays an important role in this captivating adventure tale. The romance is fulfilling and very believable, and is seamlessly blended with the fantasy plot. DRAGON LAIRD is a spectacular story that will please any fan of fantasy romance, and one that leaves readers hoping for at least one spin-off adventure in the future from Ms. Lynne's talented pen.
