"A Nurse with a Special Gift of Love"
Hailey Bergstrom is a pediatric nurse who lives and
breathes her job. She is a wonderful nurse and gives that
something extra to her children. She is not a beautiful
woman and at thirty years old, is still single and hoping
to adopt a child. When little David is brought into her
ward not knowing if he would live or die, her heart goes
out to him. David's mother is a teenager with a drug
addiction problem and the caseworker, Roy Zedyck is unable
to locate her. Roy works very hard trying to help the children find foster
homes. He is very attracted to the kind hearted Hailey.
He is an extremely handsome man and when he asks Hailey out
to dinner, she is sure that he could never really be
attracted to someone as homely as herself. She tells him
that she would like to be a foster parent to David but a
few days later, David's mother shows up wanting her child. Both Hailey and Roy are wonderful caring characters and
also of note, is Hailey's unusual grandmother who is always
inviting people over for breakfast or lunch not realizing
that her food is inedible. They have a very close
relationship and she brings love and laughter to her hard-
working granddaughter. Hailey just doesn't realize the
depth of emotion that Roy feels for her. They give each
other that special something that has been missing from
their lives. The problems of little David and her self-esteem must be
worked out to have a happy ending and this author is just
the person to take care of it. Bobby Hutchinson writes a
very compelling book that is heart-wrenching and a joy to
read. I will definitely be looking for more of her books.
