REVIEW

"A page-turner beginning to end."

This story opens in Geneva; Sybil Stone (code name Lady Liberty), the United States' first female vice president, is brokering peace talks between two rival countries. Jonathon Westford (AKA The Widow Maker) is mission chief for her security detail. Their trials begin when Lady Liberty is called back to the US for "Code One". Jonathon protests as she secures a wired briefcase to her wrist.

Their flight back to the US is an uneasy one, both having feelings of impending doom that come to fruition when their plane explodes over the Florida everglades. Only the very fast thinking of the Widow Maker saves Lady Liberty when after assuring himself that she has a parachute on, he jumps with her in his arms.

Their luck only seems to worsen -- landing in the everglades, they realize that they are going to be forced to try to walk out under the cover of a slow moving tropical storm. Not knowing who is friend or foe, they are forced to rely on themselves. Both begin to discover that there are feelings between them. Feelings that forced Jonathon to make a decision of leaving Lady Liberty's security detail once before. Sybil does not trust her feelings; after being married for fifteen years she divorced her husband due to his misuse of her power as VP.

This book is a page-turner from beginning to end. You root for Jonathon and Sybil as they realize what and then finally who they are up against in their mission to literally save the US from unintentionally starting WW3.

This book was enjoyable I stayed up past midnight to finish it. I look forward to Vicki's next book.
