REVIEW

"Fast-paced, action packed, Futuristic Romance"

Thorwalian Dane Calydon is bored with his life. Trained in war and peace, he came to the moon of Candor seeking adventure, only to observe the Candorian Council negotiate peace through satellites. However, everything abruptly changes when the Tseir and the Keirot, two previously unknown races, arrive at Candor seeking help with their internal war with the hated Ellowans. The Candorians offer Dane up as their ambassador. The Tseir representative Aiyana rejects him as being too primitive, but her Keirot counterpart agrees to have him negotiate the peace.

Dane accompanies the ambassadors back to their home planets to learn more about the demands of the Ellowans so that a lasting peace can be procured. However, all is not what it seems and soon Dane is captured by the Ellowans, whose loathing of the Tseirs leave no room for negotiations. He has also fallen in love with Aiyana, who treats him like he is an ignorant primitive. Still, Dane knows that he must go deep into the countryside to uncover the truth so that peace can come to the Franconia system even if it means the cost is his life.

Stobie Piel is renowned for her fantastic futuristic romances that bring to life other worlds in a realistic, but lively manner. Her current tale, THE MIDNIGHT MOON is a fast-paced, action-packed thriller, filled with likable characters, especially the Lingbats. Though the story line leaves some unanswered questions, Ms. Piel provides fans of the sub-genre with a winning novel that could easily sell as a science fiction as well as a stirring romance.

Summary

UNMASKED

Dane Calydon knew there was more to the mysterious Aiyana that met the eye, but when he removed her protective wrappings, he was unprepared for what he uncovered: a woman beautiful beyond his wildest imaginings. She had claimed to be an amphibious creature, and though he believed that form would compliment her scaly demeanor, he'd been seduced by her sweet voice, which penetrated his very soul. Now, with her standing before him in the light of the Midnight Moon, he found himself powerless to resist the allure of her perfect form. Yet he knew she was more than a mere enchantress, for he had glimpsed her healing, caring side. But as secrets from her past overshadowed their happiness, Dane realized he must lift the veil of darkness surrounding her before she could surrender both body and soul to his tender kisses.
