"delightful, hot, and humorous tale"
Jane Alcott, reporter, is seemingly settled in her dull job
of writing the "Single In the City" dating advice column in
the Seattle Times newspaper. She has another job so she
can save for the house she wants, and that job is not dull
at all. She writes the monthly serial "The Life of Honey
Pie" for the men's magazine "Him". Her character, Honey
Pie, is famous for screwing her latest conquest into a
coma. As she's writing her next installment of "Honey Pie",
the managing editor of the newspaper calls to tell her she
has a new assignment. It seems the owner of the Seattle
Chinooks hockey team wants a woman's view on the games to
draw the female fans to the games. Jane (who is infamous
for her Post-it notes) writes herself a note to buy books
on hockey. Luc Martineau, notorious goalie for the Chinooks, is a very
private person. He never gives interviews, and is usually a
bear to talk to. The first time he and Jane meet, he offers
to "piss in her coffee". He doesn't think that Jane should
be covering the games, not to mention traveling with the
team. She dresses in mostly black and gray, and he first
considers her dull. But he soon learns that Jane has a very
strong backbone. She takes everything in stride, including
the synchronized jock-dropping in the locker room after the
game. The guys have tried everything in their power, short
of what would be considered sexual harassment, to get her
to quit. But Jane's not going anywhere. As Jane gains the respect of the players, Luc realizes that
he's undeniably attracted to her. And he's certain she
feels the same. But can he let her in and trust her enough
with his secret? Can Jane allow herself to get
involved with Luc, and risk losing her job? Rachel Gibson has penned a delightful, hot, and humorous
tale that is enjoyable from beginning to end. I could not
put this book down, and stayed awake until the wee hours of
the morning to finish it. The development of the
relationship between Jane and Luc is funny, heartfelt, and
heartbreaking. They both have issues to get through before
they can commit. As a hockey lover, I enjoyed the
references to current NHL teams and players, but you do not
need knowledge of hockey to appreciate this book! I highly
recommend this book. NOTE: If you've read Ms. Gibson's previous hockey book,
SIMPLY IRRESISTIBLE, there are cameo appearances from those
characters in this book as well. SEXUAL CONTENT: R.
